Subscription & Billing

ParentCoord costs $15 per parent, per month. Each co-parent subscribes independently — so both parents pay their own $15/month subscription. You are not responsible for your co-parent's subscription.

Every new account starts with a 7-day free trial. A credit card is required to begin, but you will not be charged until after the 7-day trial period ends. You can cancel at any time before the trial ends and you will not be charged anything.

ParentCoord is designed so that neither parent is financially dependent on or controlled by the other. If one parent paid for both, they could threaten to cancel the other parent's access — which undermines the whole purpose of the platform.

Independent subscriptions mean both parents have equal, secure access to their account, their messages, and their records at all times.

After your 7-day free trial, your subscription automatically converts to a paid monthly plan at $15/month, billed on the same date each month. You'll receive an email reminder before you're charged.

If you cancel before the trial ends, your card is never charged. If you cancel after the trial, your account remains active until the end of your current billing period.

We do not offer refunds for partial months. If you cancel, your subscription stays active through the end of your current billing period — you won't lose access mid-month.

If you believe you were charged in error, please contact us at info@parentcoord.com and we'll review your account promptly.

You can cancel at any time from your account settings inside the ParentCoord app, or by emailing info@parentcoord.com. Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period. We don't make canceling difficult — no phone calls required.

Civility Filter

The civility filter is a built-in screening tool that reviews every message before it's sent. It looks for seemingly hostile, inflammatory, or blaming language — including threats, excessive caps, aggressive openers, and parental alienation patterns.

If a message is flagged, you'll see a warning before it sends. You're given three options: use a suggested rewrite, send the message anyway, or go back and edit it yourself.

The civility filter is a tool, not a rule. You are always in control of what you send. It's designed to give you a moment to pause — not to censor you.

The filter screens for several categories of language:

  • Profanity and derogatory terms
  • Hostile language — name calling, insults, put-downs
  • Blame and accusation patterns ("it's your fault," "you always")
  • Threats or legal ultimatums ("see you in court," "I'll call CPS")
  • Parental alienation language ("the kids hate you," "you're unfit")
  • Excessive caps or punctuation (yelling indicators)
  • Aggressive openers ("Are you kidding me," "Seriously?")

The civility filter cannot be disabled — it is a core feature of ParentCoord. However, it never prevents you from sending a message. If your message is flagged, you can still choose to send it as written by selecting "Send Anyway."

The filter is there to encourage a moment of reflection, not to control your communication.

No. The civility filter runs automatically using pattern-matching technology — no human at ParentCoord reads your messages. The filter checks for certain language patterns before a message is sent, but your conversations are private.

ParentCoord and Invest Park City, LLC do not monitor, review, or access your personal messages. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Co-Parent Sign-Up

Yes — for the shared features (messaging, calendar, expenses, and document vault) to work, both co-parents must have their own ParentCoord account. These features require both parties to be connected on the platform.

That said, each parent's account is independent. You control your own subscription and your own data regardless of what your co-parent does.

Unfortunately, you cannot force a co-parent to use any communication platform. However, there are a few approaches that have worked for other families:

  • Frame it as neutral ground. ParentCoord isn't one parent's idea — it's a third-party platform designed to reduce conflict for both of you.
  • Highlight the free trial. Your co-parent can try it for 7 days at no cost before committing to anything.
  • Talk to your attorney. In some Utah custody cases, judges have ordered co-parents to use a communication platform. Your attorney can advise whether this is an option in your situation.
If court-ordered communication tools become part of your parenting plan, ParentCoord's timestamped message archive can serve as a reliable record of all communications.

Once you're logged into the ParentCoord app, go to Connect Co-Parent in the menu. Enter your co-parent's email address and send them an invitation. They'll receive an email prompting them to create their own account.

Once they sign up and accept your invitation, you'll be connected and all shared features will become active for both of you.

Co-parent connections are designed to be stable to protect the integrity of your shared records. If you need to change your connected co-parent — for example, due to a new custody arrangement — please contact us at info@parentcoord.com and we'll assist you directly.

Privacy & Security

Yes. ParentCoord uses industry-standard encryption for all data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Your messages, documents, and records are only visible to you and your connected co-parent — no one else.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers. We do not show ads on ParentCoord.

ParentCoord makes no representations about the legal admissibility of messages or records stored on the platform. Whether any communication can be used in court depends on Utah rules of evidence and the specifics of your case.

What we can say is that all messages on ParentCoord are timestamped and archived — which means they create a reliable record of what was said and when. We strongly recommend consulting a licensed Utah attorney if you have questions about how your communications could be used in legal proceedings.

Only you and your connected co-parent can see your shared content (messages, calendar events, expenses, and documents). Your account information — including your email and payment details — is never visible to your co-parent.

ParentCoord staff do not access personal accounts except in limited circumstances required by law or to resolve a support issue at your request.

If you cancel your subscription, your account remains accessible through the end of your billing period. After that, your account becomes inactive. We retain your data for up to 90 days before permanent deletion, giving you time to download anything you need.

To request early deletion of your data, contact us at info@parentcoord.com.
